Tropical bathroom plants

By Danique
in Houseplants

Plants are not only nice for the living room. No, on the contrary! Bathroom plants are cozy and good in humid air. The bathroom quickly and easily brighten up? Then add some indoor plants! Plants that do well in a bathroom are mainly tropical plants. These tropical plants are used to warmer temperatures and humid air. Just like the bathroom!

These are our 5 favourite bathroom plants:

1. Fern

A Fern is the most perfect plant for the bathroom. With the high humidity of a bathroom, the Fern is at its best. Preferably a little indirect sunlight, and you don’t hear the plant about anything.

Chlorophytum Comosum (Spider Plant)

Officially the Chlorophytum Comosum, but we also call it the Grass Lily or Spider Plant. This plant thrives well in a bathroom. The high humidity ensures fast and many new cuttings. Also make sure there is some indirect sunlight or partial shade. Only water once every one and a half week. That’s it!

3. Dragon Tree

Or the Dracaena. An ideal plant for the bathroom. If a Dracaena is not in the right place, the plant soon gets brown leaves. This is usually in rooms with low humidity. A bathroom has a high humidity which is ideal for the Dracaena.

  • Pilea peperomioides (Pancake plant)
  • Dracaena
  • Fern

4. Ivy (Hedera)

Not only an outdoor plant, but also a lot of fun in the bathroom. You can best hang the plant in the corner of the bathroom. This way, the Ivy can filter the right amount of light itself. Just like outside, the humidity in a bathroom is higher, and that is exactly what the Ivy needs.

5. Spoon plant (Spathiphyllum)

Don’t you just want to stick to green plants? Then you can choose the Spoon plant. This plant has beautiful white flowers, which creates a nice contrast. The Spoon plant finds the bathroom ideal with its high humidity.

What’s also nice about the Spoon plant: the plant is air-purifying. In this way, the plant easily removes harmful substances from the air. With harmful substances you can think of moulds that often occur in a bathroom. Ideal for that Spoon plant!
