Tips for buying a changing table

Are you going to buy a changing table? Then the offer can be a bit overwhelming. Especially when you become a parent for the first time! However, a changing table is not just a purchase. You spend a lot and especially often time there. Before you start selecting and purchasing a changing table, it is wise to read these 5 tips first.

1. Go for lots of space

Choose a changing table that is nice and deep. We recommend going for a top that is at least 75 cm wide and 60 cm deep. The best thing to do is to go for a piece of furniture that is even deeper.

It is important to opt for a spacious top for the changing table. This way you can be sure that there is enough space for the changing mat, nappies, clothes and care products.

In addition to the top itself, it is also convenient that the changing table has a shelf. On the shelf you can put baskets containing nappies, care products and disposable wipes. It is also handy to hang a few hangers under the shelf or on the wall. You can hang clothes on this, but also any distractions such as a dummy or cuddly toy.

2. Choose for height

In fact, you almost always stand bent on a changing table. It is therefore important that it is easy to reach. Especially if you are a bit smaller! A changing table is usually between 90 and 105 cm. Be sure to visit several baby shops to test whether a certain height is suitable for you.

3. A good angle

Not everyone washes or refreshes their baby in the same way. Most will take care of their baby on the long side of the changing table. However, the side or an angled corner is of course also possible. Just like the height of the changing table, it is wise to test the different angles of the changing table. Are you equally comfortable on each side?

4. Look at the design

In addition to being practical, it is of course also important that you like the changing table. We would not recommend going for a changing table that has different bright colours or patterns. Just like the entire nursery, stick to a colour palette. The changing table has probably been there for at least 2 years. It is therefore important that you are not bored quickly. In addition, a changing table is a large piece of furniture that will certainly stand out in the nursery.

In addition to the colours, also pay attention to the material of the changing table. Always make sure that the finish of the changing table is kid-proof. Think of lacquer, glaze and oils that are not harmful to children. A good example are the Pinolino dressers. The Pinolino brand is definitely recommended for the nursery! Pinolino furniture is very neutral, safe and of high quality. Especially the safe aspect is very important with a changing table.

5. Choose a changing table with storage space

It is very handy to have enough storage space under the changing table. Both drawers and cupboards are a perfect combination. If the changing table only has drawers, that’s no problem. There are plenty of storage bins for in drawers. This makes it easy to separate clothes, nappies and pyjamas. By choosing a changing table with plenty of storage space, you can also be sure that everything is within reach.
