Has your fireplace looked the same for years? If you make a lot of use of the fireplace in the winter, it can’t do the look any good. That is why we love to share a few tips to freshen up your fireplace as well.
Paint the mantel
Suppose you have a fireplace in one colour, think of cream white or even matt black. Then you can get that colour back very easily. Go over it again with the paintbrush! It takes little time and effort, and it does have an effect.
If the current colour refresh is not enough, you can also choose a completely different colour.
Don’t forget to degrease and sand the mantel before you start.
Re-tiling
You may have tiles around the fireplace. You can easily remove and clean the tiles. This makes the fireplace stand out much better.
If there is a budget and time, you can also re-tile the surface. A new size of tile or a different colour. Sounds like a small difference, but actually effective.
Decorating
No budget? Go crazy with decoration! Candles on the mantel, next to the fireplace or, if you are not using the fireplace, in the fireplace. A mirror, statue or paintings. With a small variation in colour, material and size you ensure a new look of the fireplace/mantel. Easy and effective.
