Painting tips & techniques: Essential painting tools

Painting is easy for some, while the other has never had a paintbrush in their hands. Either way, you can learn to paint. Especially if you use the tips below!

1. Tools are everything

Besides the fact that good preparation is half the work, this also applies to paints. With the right brushes and paint you are already well on your way. By using really good material this saves at least one layer of paint. Also, you will probably finish much sooner than if you start working with poor quality brushes.

2. Decontamination, degreasing and sanding

When painting, it is important to always sand and decontaminate the walls. By decontaminating, you can easily remove grease, moisture and other stains. By still sanding your walls are nice and smooth again. In addition, a sanded wall absorbs the new paint much better.

3. Always use tape

Always. Even if you really do not feel like it, or if you are only going to paint a small piece. Before you know it, the socket, floor or even furniture is covered with paint. Prevention is better than solving!

4. Work dust-free

Before opening the paint can, first blow the dust off the lid. It would be a shame if there is already dirt in the paint before you have painted.

5. Do not use the full paintbrush

When dyeing, you never use the full paintbrush. If you dip the brush into the paint, it is wise to only do this up to half of the brush.

6. Keep the paint pot upside down for a while

The remaining paint can easily be reused after use. Up to 2 years after you have used the paint. Make sure that the lid sits well on the paint pot. Then keep the pot upside down for a while. In this way the paint runs into the edges of the pot.
