Home renovations that provide the best resale value

1. A garage

Are you buying a new construction home? Then there is little chance that a garage has actually been built on the house. In most cases you have to do it with a simple ramp.

Do you really want to add value to the home? Build (or have built) a garage. Sounds like quite an investment, but you certainly get a lot in return. The costs of having a garage built vary from €10,000 to €19,000.

2. Solar panels

Used to be a no-go. Nowadays you find more houses with solar panels than without.

Only three solar panels can save you €173 per year.

3. An extra bedroom

Whether you’re going to use the bedroom or not. An extra space upstairs can be of great added value during the sale. Nowadays, our children all have their own room. The more valuable that extra bedroom can be.

4. Plastic window frames

If the window frames are already made of plastic, this tip will be of no use to you. However, there are plenty of houses that still have old window frames. Could you have the money and the opportunity? Replace the window frames!

5. Go gas-free

It’s as far away as 2050. But in case you haven’t watched the news for a while, the aim is for all households to be gas-free by 2050. Time and budget enough? Then be sure to set to work on making the house gas-free. It will bring you more than the costs!
