A chevron might be hipper than ever right now. Like many, you probably have a rug in your house that has been in the same place for years. There’s nothing special about it anymore, and you’d already forgotten that the rug is there at all. So give that old rug a refreshing twist with a chevron pattern!
Supplies
- Oud vloerkleed
- Rekenmachine
- Liniaal, meetlint en/of rolmaat
- Geodriehoek (liefst een grote variant)
- Verf met kwasten
Let’s start restyling! First get all the supplies and then follow the step-by-step plan below.

Step 1
Measure out the center point of the rug. And from that point, make the first zigzag line. Mark the line by sticking tape. You can make the line as thick or as thin as you like. We used a line of 5 centimeters for our rug.
If you want to calculate exactly how many lines come on the rug you can use a calculator.
Step 2
Once you’ve set the first line, the hardest part of the project is done. Now continue with the zigzag pattern over the entire rug.
Step 3
Time for paint! In order for the zigzag pattern to work properly, it is best to choose two colours.
If you want to show the original colour of the dress you can skip one stripe each time. Attention! Eventually three colours will appear. If you would rather have two colours, you can of course. Then paint a zigzag line and skip the line after it.
Step 4
Let the paint dry well. Everything dry? Then carefully remove the tape. Your handmade chevron rug is finished!
