DIY: Kids Play + Camping Tent

By Danique
in Garden & Balcony, Home & Interior

Almost all children enjoy playing in tents. A place for them alone, with a holiday feeling as an extra. Also for you as a parent, caretaker or babysitter, a tent is a nice addition to the interior. Especially if you turn the tepee tent into a showpiece!

Supplies

  • 5 (bamboo) sticks of the same length
  • Lap of dust (about 4 meters)
  • Piece of ribbon
  • Sewing machine and thread
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Step 1

Lay out the metre-long piece of fabric on the ground. Then use a tape measure to draw three large triangles. Make sure that the bottom of the triangles is about one meter long.

Step 2

Cut out the drawn triangles.

Step 3

Sew the tips of the triangles together lengthwise with a sewing machine. Attention! You are not supposed to sew the entire piece together. This means that only one triangle is sewn on both sides. The other two triangles are still loose on the side.

Step 4

The two sides that aren’t attached to each other yet, you’re going to partly attach them to each other now. You sew the two sides together from top to about half of the triangle.

Step 5

At the top of the triangles you now cut a half circle out of the fabric. This is where the sticks will pass through later in the step-by-step plan.

Step 6

To prevent the fabric from fraying, we recommend stitching a ribbon at the semi-circle and at the opening of the triangles.

Step 7

Place all 5 poles through the hole of the tepee and put the tent down. Then tie the poles firmly with a remaining piece of ribbon.

Stap 8

That’s it! The teepee is ready to be judged by the kids. Enjoy it!
