If you have a curious cat (and sometimes even dog), then you probably know it. You have just brought in a new plant, and as soon as you take a good look you see that there is already a bite out of the leaf. No problem. Unless, of course, the plant is poisonous to your cat.
A list of cat-friendly plants
- Cyperus Alternifolius
- Banana plant
- Calathea
- Bromelia
- Ferns
- Palms (but with the exception of the Cycas palm)
- Beaucarnea
- Spider plant
Important signals from the cat
Did your cat eat from a plant? Then watch for signs of poisoning. These are the most common symptoms:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain and therefore usually lack of appetite
- Pale tongue and pale gums
- Swelling in mouth and throat
- Convulsions
In case of suspicion of poisoning, contact the veterinarian at all times. A vet can give the best advice for your cat. Especially since a vet knows the health of the cat.
