A hotel feeling with an en suite bathroom

When you move or renovate the house, you make long-term choices. This also applies to bathrooms. Whatever choice you make for a bathroom, this decision will last for about 15 years. Before you start renovating a house, it is therefore a good idea to first check the various wishes and needs for all the rooms. For example, have you ever thought about the option of an en suite bathroom?

What is an en suite bathroom?

An en suite bathroom is a bedroom that also contains the bathroom. This can be an open bathroom, where the bath is separate in the bedroom. But it is also possible to place a (partial) partition between the bedroom and bathroom. The easiest example of an en suite bathroom is the hotel room. There is nothing better than getting out of the shower and straight into bed.

The most important prerequisite for en suite bathrooms, apart from space, is the possibility of drainage. If it is possible to install a drainage system and you have the space? Then an en suite bathroom is definitely a must!

Essential components for an en suite bathroom

Are you interested in the world of en suite bathrooms? Great! First of all, think about whether you want an open or closed en suite bathroom. Whatever variant you choose, the following components are indispensable in your en suite bathroom:

  • Bath and/or shower;
  • Bathroom furniture with one or two sinks;
  • Towel rack or bathroom cabinet for towels and toiletries;
  • Mirror;
  • Lighting suitable for a bathroom;
  • Ventilation system;
  • Decoration, such as plants.

While reading the essentials, you might miss one important part: the toilet. That may be true! For an en suite bathroom, a toilet is not a requirement. A toilet takes up a lot of space, which is why a toilet is often chosen in a separate room.

The possibilities with an en suite bathroom

If you would like to be able to devide the bathroom and bedroom, there are several options.

A glass wall

The easiest way is to devide the bathroom is with a glass wall. That way, you don’t lose a lot of space and you still create a division. There are various options for both the glass and the frame. Think of a black metal frame or smoked glass. A glass partition can be made to measure, so there is always a suitable option.

A room divider

In addition to a glass wall, it is of course also possible to have a complete wall installed between the bathroom and sleeping area. This is a larger and more definitive choice, but also provides the hotel with a chic feel.

To save space, we recommend not equipping the wall with a door. Or to choose a sliding door.

Half a room divider

Do you want to put the bath in the middle of the bedroom? Then it is also possible to create a space with half a wall next to the bathtub. This still creates a separation, allowing you to see the bath and sleeping areas separately.

Personalised professional advice

Are you convinced about an en suite bathroom and do you want to know if an en suite bathroom is suitable for you? Then we recommend that you get professional advice. Besides the desire for an en suite bathroom, it is of course also important that it is technically possible. A consultation is free and can be done by phone, online or in a shop. Always measure the entire room in advance, both the space for the bath and the sleeping area. This way, an expert can find out for you which possibilities there are for an en suite bathroom.
