Simplify Gardening with The Gro Project

I've been known to say once or twice that I've been dealt a black thumb {urban dictionary definition: A wannabe gardener who kills plants. Opposite of green thumb}. That kinda sounds like me. Sadly, my gardening prowess is far from A+.

Yet, with each Spring that rolls around, I feel the drive and excitement to keep trying in hopes to one day have a gorgeous garden + a bright green gleaming thumb. At the moment, with each sprouting bud, a thought of accomplishment passes through with a little mental, pat-on-the-back. I'm doing it!

Creating a meaningful home is something that is very near and dear to my heart, so thank you Jenna for having me share today! I'm Anneke from This, That and Life where I blog about my experiences in furniture makeovers, interiors, diy projects and occasionally health, fitness and girly girl things. I'm a momma to three kiddos and I've been married 10 years to the love of my life.

Leave it up to me to complicate things, but there are so many ways you could go with this ~ I've been seriously pondering about what to say and share with you today. I've promised myself to keep it simple!

Many people are often surprised when we mention moving from our current home. We designed and built it ourselves and were involved in every little detailed decision. It was definitely a labor of love that we learned a lot from, but in the end, it's just a bunch of walls. And while the memories of building that house together will last forever in conversations, pictures, and experiences that are brought into new projects and endeavors, the house is fleeting......and really, everything is fleeting.

Powder Room Remodel: Repairing Wall and Hanging Wallpaper

Between baseball, a birthday party, and celebrating Mother's Day (shout out to all the moms out there - hope you had a great day), there was very little time to actually get anything major accomplished on the DIY homefront this weekend. BUT, somehow with 5 minutes here and 10 minutes there, I was able to squeeze in a few trips to Lowe's. for supplies and a few moments to hang wallpaper. And thankfully with those spare moments, I actually got alot done and I feel like I'm making progress - even though it's slow.

Since announcing the plans for the powder room and sharing details on the removal of the toilet and pedestal sink, the room has really taken a drastic turn - for the good. When I left you last, there was a huge hole in the wall from where the tile backsplash was removed and the wall colors were still orange and beige. Well not anymore.

Hello, SAS Interiors fans! I am Cassie from Primitive and Proper, a blog that started as an extension of my business, but has become more of a journal of my projects, home, and family. I am honored that Jenna has asked me to participate in her series on creating a meaningful home.

I am a firm believer in one's home being a true reflection of oneself. Each one of us is blessed with unique talents, interests, quirks, and passions. As human beings we are given the chance to express who we are through fashion, writing, art, and even home decor. So in order to show you how I have created a home that is meaningful and represents me, as opposed to a catalog ordered home, I need to tell you a little bit about myself as well.

My husband and I are both readers... we love to be surrounded by books. This passion has trickled down into our children as well. Because of that, bookcases are essential and can be found in several rooms of our home.

We have bookcases in the living room...

And we have bookcases in the kids rooms, and even space for them in the guest rooms, in case our guests share our whole family's love for reading.

Hi there, I'm Kristen Duke and I share my life adventures at Capturing Joy. I am a mother of 4, author, Texan, photographer, foodie, diy-er, and I love life.

I'm so delighted to be here today to share how I aim to create a meaningful home. I want my children to have happy memories of their childhood, and I strive to make our home happy with color and whimsy and words of affirmation for them to see. I feel that our home should be a safe haven from the crazy in the world, and I want my children to know they are loved--no matter what.

I rescued an old framed canvas from my neighbor and turned it into 2 different projects in my home that make it more meaningful. This canvas art coins a phrase that I want stuck in the heads of my children as they make mistakes in life.

I love interior design and decorating my home, but in the end, the purpose is always to create a meaningful home where all family members most want to be.

In our house, we share our space with my three year old son, James, so our home has to be a place where he feels safe and secure, but can also be a kid. The home also has to function for the adults who live here and don't want to feel like they live in a playbox. Creating a balanced home means that we can all truly enjoy our time at home. It should be the place we feel most comfortable and where we are the most relaxed.

With each and every post, I strive to inspire others through my words, personal DIY creations, and experience as a Designer. I have opened up my home in hopes to share and show others that a home should be a place you love and enjoy living. A home should reflect who you are. A home should tell your story, thus creating a meaningful home.

Playful, Modern, Vintage: The New Collection at CB2

My personal design aesthetic steers more towards transitional with a touch of modern and a touch of classic. So basically I call it Classic Eclectic. But I appreciate the look of most other styles and one reason I love my job of working with clients as an Interior Designer is that I can live vicariously through them to create spaces that are abit out of my realm.

Recently, I've been working with a local client that has an internet startup company that wants to emulate the aesthetic of an office similar to google with a modern, hip, and innovative edge. Creating the space has been nothing but interesting and fun. I've been able to put my modern "cap" on and thankfully have had the chance to choose pieces that are out of my typical personal design style. So where did I turn to first?

CB2 of course, the modern and bold counterpart to Crate and Barrel.

Just recently I learned (and wanted to share with my fabulous and stylish readers) that the CB2 family has partnered with husband-and-wife design duo Robert and Cortney Novogratz to create an entirely new and playful collection that exudes modern with a splash of vintage (the CB2 and Novogratz Collection). They're totally going all out with fresh, yet unpredictable. If you've ever seen the TV design show, The Novotgratz, you know that they have a bold and colorful design style, so their partnering with CB2 makes complete sense.

Their latest collection debuts TODAY - May 2nd, and was inspired by their vacation home in Brazil. It features pops of bold color mixed with warm woods, as well as range of items and price points.
