Sleeping Like a Baby with ComforPedic iQ

August 29, 2014

We all know how important sleep is. As a mom of a newborn it's incredible how much those precious hours of rest can energize the body to tackle the day ahead. One important (and probably the most important) factor to achieve the best nights sleep or even an afternoon catnap is the mattress you lie your head on.  Our master bedroom mattress was actually the guest room mattress in our previous hone. Even though we love the family and friends who visit, the mattress we chose wasn't the best.  It was a basic run-of-the-mill, flip-every-6-months, spring-style mattress.  It was comfy but … [Read more...]

5 Ways to Update a Bathroom on a Budget

May 7, 2014

There have been some really qualified "entries" for the ugly bathroom makeover.  I'm not going to lie...  some of you are in desperate need of direction & a plan on how to jazz up your bathrooms.  Most of the bathrooms I received pictures for, have good bones and are similar in layout of many homes, but they need to be taken to the next level to be practical and pretty! Lowe's and I are going through the pictures and next Monday will be the day when you'll get to see what reader submitted bathroom we chose, along with a Creative Vision Board + 'plan of action' for the space.  In the … [Read more...]

Taking over & Transforming the ‘Ugly Bathroom’

April 30, 2014

Let's talk bathrooms... They're one of those spaces in the home that often gets neglected, yet should get the most attention.  Whether just moving into a home that has a bathroom in dire need of a makeover or a bathroom that's gone too long without a refresh, revamping a bathroom doesn't have to be overwhelming or expensive. Let's face it, who doesn't duck away from it all for a few minutes of peace and quiet in the bathroom (especially when you have kids).  And who doesn't relish in a long, hot shower after rolling out of bed to actually feel fully awake.  No moments of any day should … [Read more...]

Groutable Luxury Vinyl Tile Floor {an Update}

April 23, 2014

In the 400+ posts I've shared over the years there are a select few that I receive questions about on a daily basis.  Which, by the way, I love!  Reader inquiries + questions make me so happy :) One post, in particular, that many readers are interested in is my experience with groutable luxury vinyl tile flooring. I've installed groutable LVT  in my parents floor + my foyer + my master bath + in the kids bath, so I can officially say I've had some experience with the product. So the basic question I continually get asked is:  Has your vinyl tile held up + How is it today? Here … [Read more...]

This post brought to you by Elmer’s ProBond Advanced. All opinions are 100% mine. This project was slightly involved to make, but the overall process wasn't difficult + it included a few of my favorite tools & my latest love, Elmer's ProBond Advanced.  This bonding glue is awesome and was a … [Read more...]

Ideas for Breaking Up Matching Furniture

February 21, 2014

Pushing the limits and ditching the "rules" of decorating can sometimes be tough.  And even as a designer, I've fallen victim to "not following the rules". But honestly, what rules? There are no real decorating rules that must be followed to a T.   Instead I have tried to train myself and in turn share suggestions + ideas with you, my readers,  rules of thumb, helpful tips + tricks, and inspiration, but definitely no must-follow-these-rules-or-you're-wrong. Why?  Because no house is the same. Because no 2 people have the same feeling of what's most important to them. Because every … [Read more...]

22 Creative + Clever Shared Bedroom Ideas for Kids

January 22, 2014

I hope you're having a fabulous + fun week so far.  Some of your got blasted with the "polar vortex" (a little dramatic I think), but bizarrely where we live in upstate NY, we got skunked.  Anyway, no complaints here since we are dealing with -10 temps.  When is Spring coming???  Anyway, earlier this week I shared my plan for the bedroom space that I am designing for my kids since the news of baby#3.  The shift of spaces is pretty big news (in our house) and even though I got some grumbles from the peanut gallery, I think (overall) both of them are happy with the direction. Also in my plan … [Read more...]

Plans for a Shared Kids Bedroom Space

January 20, 2014

Another Monday.  It was a tough one to get up for, but since the kids + hubby were home and I had a few meetings to get ready for, it was a must to roll out of bed after 3 snoozes.  I hope you also had a great weekend!  I definitely got my DIY-on with a few new projects (one I shared a peak of on IG) + I started some painting in the kids room.  And that's the space that I'm going to share more about today. As I mentioned last week, our family is welcoming baby #3 in mid-June and since our house has 3 bedroom and 5 people, some sharing of spaces is going to need to happen.  The hubby + I … [Read more...]
