Interior Spaces for Fall 2013; Colors to Watch for Fall 2013 by @Jenna_Burger,

I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day weekend.  Ours was filled with doing some Summer favorites for the last time + cleaning out & organizing before school starts this week. And can you believe it's September?!  Even though the last few days have been the most humid & stickiest of all season, it is officially September. As the calendar turns to another month, the days continue to get shorter and the nights cooler.  As we transition into Fall, we once again dig out the ole' heavier clothes and blankets, while the lighter linens get tucked away for the coming months.  … [Read more...]

The Power Struggle of Color Versus Neutral

January 20, 2012

I often struggle with what I like better... Neutrals, Via Or Colors. Via I enjoy a soft and serene oasis, Via but I also like a bold statement. Via I like tone-on-tone and quiet hues, Via but I also like to be daring. Via I like soft fabrics and subtle textures, Via but I also like vibrant, contrasting bursts of color. Via Why choose?  I just need to accept that I like it all! There's always a happy medium. Do you struggle with keeping a space neutral or adding color? What do you prefer - Neutrals or Color? … [Read more...]

25 Gorgeous Nursery Spaces

January 18, 2012

We're at the point with our family, that we'll soon be saying adiós, a.k.a ba-bye, to my little girls crib and "nursery".  She's almost at the age for a big girl bed (trying to hold back the tears), and as I am excited to make some changes to her room, I kind of wish she could stay in her crib forever.  In trying to hold on to every last bit of her baby years, I thought it would be fun to check out some nursery spaces.  Nurseries are one of my favorite rooms to design.  Not only is it important to many new parents because it's the first space for their bundle of joy to rest their head, but … [Read more...]

Inspirational Christmas Interiors

December 12, 2011

I realized that lately I've been sharing alot of my own DIY creations (which I hope you've been enjoying) and less inspirational interior spaces by others.  With the internet, magazines, and books, I'm never at a loss for finding spaces that WOW me (and I hope you as well). With the Holidays approaching, the typical everyday decor is replaced with seasonal favorites, and once again my jaw has dropped at some of the interior rooms that fellow designers have created.  Let's take a look at some of my favorite spaces decorated for the Christmas. Where do I begin?  This interior fully … [Read more...]

5 Bold Black Spaces

September 30, 2011

Black Interior_1

Everyone knows that the classic black dress is a staple for any woman.  We wear black all the time, so why don't we incorporate it into our Interiors? Black, sometimes thought of as a drear or depressing color, can actually be used in a dramatic and sophisticated way to create a stunning space with depth and intrigue.  Just like the classic black dress, accessories in lighter or bold accent colors can be layered on top to finish the look! The trend of using black throughout interior spaces has been around for a few years, but I still think people are intimidated by this fierce and … [Read more...]

Asian Inspired Decor

Asian Decor_1

Incorporating Asian elements into a space has been a favorite of many for years.  Asian design is not an overnight trend that we said hello to yesterday and goodbye to tomorrow.  Because Asian decor has strong roots to the largest continent on earth, it's influence continues to dominate a large portion of the global design world, hence it's trend-lessness. Be inspired by these Asian influenced spaces that showcase a chic and effortless style. One of the most prominent characteristics of Asian style is the use of bold colors.  Red is the most used color, but other colors like blue and gold … [Read more...]

Make a Statement with your Front Door

July 25, 2011

Front Door_1

Summer is the best time of year to spruce up your front door with new color and visual appeal. The front door of your home sets the stage for your interior decor and style.  Have your front entry tell the story of what's to come.  Create an inviting and interesting entry that will surely make an impression before a guest enters (and you too!). Color Since the front door of the home is (usually) the focal point of the main facade, painting it a bright and/or vibrant color, emphasizes it's importance.  Have fun with it and add a splash of color! Details Unique details, such as an … [Read more...]

Equestrian Design Elements

July 22, 2011

Equestrian Design_11

I feel so lucky to live in a beautiful part of the country that is surrounded by horses.  From the well-known natural mineral spring baths to the history of the Battle of Saratoga to the picturesque Victorian architecture, Saratoga Springs, New York is filled with health and history.  But what Saratoga Springs is most known for in the modern day, is it's summer horse racing season. I have been excited to research and write a post on equestrian design elements for quite awhile.  Of all days, today seemed most appropos because it is the Opening Day of the 2011 summer horse racing … [Read more...]

10 Top Bathroom Decor Styles

July 7, 2011

Bathrooms (as well as kitchens) are one of my favorite spaces to design!  There are SO many decor styles and so many options in creating a haven to bath.  The key to designing a beautiful bathroom lies in the attention to details and the goal of creating a cohesive space.  I've been asked by many readers, if I've ever blogged about bathrooms, and I will be honest - I haven't. My reason? I don't know where to begin. The challenge with blogging is to compile everything in one post... kind of impossible (or you'd be reading for days and never return).  I took a step back to think about the … [Read more...]
