August 14, 2012

I've mentioned here and there that I've been working on revamping my faux-stained laminate bookcases, and I can officially say they are done & styled. Take a look... I LOVE a well-styled bookcase!  A good mix of books, accessories, and personal momentos really brings life and character to a bookcase. When we moved into our home a couple years ago, I was in a wood-tone state-of-mind, and chose these laminate shelves from Walmart for $99/each.  They are not at all of great quality, but at the time they fit the bill. before pictures... Since then, I've started … [Read more...]

Here are a few helpful and foolproof tips for having beautifully designed walls! 1. Hanging Pictures at the Right Height Never have a tall (or short) person hang photos, as it'll result in pictures being hung too high (or too low). The center of a larger photo … [Read more...]

I'm finishing up a kitchen renovation for a local client (which looks amazing and I can't wait to share pictures) and we're at the point of choosing light fixtures.  Most have already been selected and some already installed, but we wanted to find something extra special for the foyer light as you enter into the home. The tricky part of the equation? The Ceiling Height!  An average home usually has an 8'-0" ceiling height, but some have cathedral ceilings in the foyer so a grand and beautiful chandelier can be admired.  Not this house.  But that's okay because with a little hunting I was … [Read more...]

Top Paint Picks for Navy Blue Walls

June 28, 2012

Top Navy Colors

Yesterday I shared my Royal Blue Revelation and how I've been introducing this new-found hue into my home. I'm kinda psyched because not only is this color going to be an accent seen in accessories, but I plan on painting the front room a dark navy.  Yesterday I left you at the point of me knee-deep in color decisions, and today I'm sharing the final color choice, plus my Top Color Picks for Navy Blue Walls. I've always had a thing for black spaces - they're bold, dramatic, and striking - but I'm loving the navy hue just as much (and maybe even better)!  I've gathered some inspirational … [Read more...]

Royal Blue Revelation

Which Blue Should I Choose?

Lately I've been crazy over royal blue, or as others sometimes refer to it as, navy. Which term do you use? I've mentioned here and there that since Spring sprung, I've been introducing this new-found hue throughout my home. It all started with a drapery panel (yes, that one right below in the pic) that I purchased with the intention to use as a shower curtain.  Once I got it home though, it was perfect for my dining room (the center of our home), and thus the beginning of my Royal Blue Revelation. So how have I introduced this classic blue hue? Come and see... I didn't want to … [Read more...]

Teen-Room-Roundup

With a plethora of interests, hobbies, and sometimes messy habits, a teens bedroom can often be a challenge to design. Some parents (and their kids) would rather just close the door to the often unsightly views, but many want to leave the door open to show a well-designed room that reflects their childs unique interests and personality. After finishing up my son's bedroom makeover (even though he's not a teen - thank goodness) a few weeks ago, I thought it would be fun to put together some inspirational ideas and solutions for a well-designed, functional, and Totally Rad Teen … [Read more...]

10 Reasons to Hire an Interior Designer

May 9, 2012

square

It's been a little crazy around here lately and one of the reasons is because I just wrapped up three design jobs this week.  It's always so gratifying when a project is complete and the vision that I originally had for a space comes to fruition.  As I finished up the final details of these latest projects, each client said (in a different way, of course) how I made them think outside the box and how the space wouldn't be what it is without my assistance.  That surely brought a smile to my face :) Many think, that an Interior Designer is only for the stars or the uber-wealthy.  So not true! … [Read more...]
