Spring is here, finally right?!  After that horrific winter, we welcomed this new season with open arms.  Whether spring is drawn out or we jump right into Summer, it's nice to break out of hibernation to smell the fresh air of the warmer season to come. The first thought that comes to mind for me when I think of Spring is, flowers.  As the perennials are starting to peak their way through - it's always interesting to see what will come up each year - I've started to think of how I can create simple, but unexpected flower displays and vignettes throughout the garden (and indoors … [Read more...]

Happy Friday my fabulous friends!  Boy, it's been a rough week for me.  Once again, I am sick with a bad cold and at 30 weeks prego, it's been a bit rough.  On lighter + much happier note, the warm sunny skies have opened up and I am eagerly excited that Spring has arrived.  Aren't you? Even though I'm not feeling 100%, I wanted to jump on the blog to share something special with you before the weekend gets under way.  A few months ago, a very kind online shop owner reached out to me.  I get tons of emails daily from companies wanting to partner with me or try/test new products.  Most … [Read more...]

Decorating with Leaning + Ladder Shelves

March 24, 2014

Within the past two months, I've purchased 4 leaning shelves (a.k.a. ladder shelves). Obsessed? No. Great for storage? Affordable? Open + Airy?  Yes. For the same reason, I've been loving leaning shelves as of late, I've got my clients hooked too and I'd like to share with you why leaning shelves work so well for any room in the home. Any style shelf gives height to the room. Most pieces of furniture (tables, sofa, chair, bed, etc) aren't higher than 30/36" off the floor, which often leaves pictures / artwork to be the only source of height in a room.  As much as it's important to … [Read more...]

Oh My, where are the days going?  I swear, I wake up and 5 minutes later it is night time.  I can not keep ahead, but thankfully all is good - NO complaints, except for the bitter cold temps.  Some fun news to share...  I was in NYC for a quick trip late last week and met up with some blogger pals - Diane, Kelly, and Denise - for a Better Homes and Gardens event.  BHG, along with BrandSpark, invited some local bloggers to the Best New Product Awards, where we got to mingle with representatives of some big brands.  It was so fun to "get out" and meet others who are just as passionate as I.  … [Read more...]

February 19, 2014

Is it really Wednesday already?  With the kids off for winter break this week, the days have been flying by.  Plus I've been putting the final touches on the master bedroom and have started working on the kids room.  I even was busy over the weekend with a big build project (here is a picture peak). Before sharing another update on the rooms, I put together a collection of my favorite capiz shell chandeliers for another 7 series feature.  Last week I showcased my latest DIY creation and how I created a hanging fixture using a capiz shell fixture from World Market.  It gives the most … [Read more...]

The Dark Side: Choosing a Contrasting Paint Color

February 5, 2014

I've entered the dark side and I am thrilled about it. For me the cross over was easy because I love everything dark. Ok, where do I go with that now???  Well anyway, I'm not talking about the real dark side (even though my kids have seen me there once or twice + they love Star Wars), but instead I'm referring to the dark side of the color wheel.  On Monday, I shared my plan of attack for the bedroom and today I'm dishing on the details. For my master bedroom refresh, I wanted to achieve a stronger contrast between the headboard fabric and the wall color.  The headboard was … [Read more...]
