I hope you had a beautiful weekend + a day of filled with remembering all the veterans who have fought for our country, along with those who continue to fight for our freedoms. Mixing Blue + Black

October 29, 2013

I'm not sure how it started, but for some reason in fashion and in home decor the idea of mixing blue with black has always been frowned upon.  It's just as foolish as the "rule" don't wear white before memorial day or after labor day, or the other silly "rule" not to mix metals.  Why?  There shouldn't be any "rules" like this.  And if you do think of them as "rules", then break them!  At the end of the day, it's how an overall composition is put together rather than the focus on a specific element. With navy and other shades of blue being hot, hot, hot right now, when paired with black, … [Read more...]

Paint Colors in My Home

October 3, 2013

paint palette

This is a blog post that I've wanted and needed to write for a looong time.  One of the most frequent questions I get asked on a daily basis is about the paint colors in my home. Let's get right into it. Welcome. Let's start with the front door... Probably my most favorite color in the house is the apple green hue that welcomes me home every time and gives a great backdrop to my many seasonal wreaths. Valspar Olive Tree Come on in... My foyer space is in the midst of a minor revamp.  I use to have a beige hue on the walls, but decided to go in a more greige direction (find my … [Read more...]

Ideas + Solutions for the Wall Behind the TV by @Jenna_Burger,

Another Monday here again!  I hope you had a great weekend.  It was fairly low key on my end, but as a family we enjoyed the beginning signs of Fall, with the brisk chill in the air, by taking a family bike ride + watching football.  I also got the opportunity to shop for some colorful mums to transition the front porch, as well as the mantel.  Both are still in progress, but are coming along.  I'm waiting for some small pumpkins & ghords to arrive at the local stores - upon asking, it seems like it might be another week or 2. Onto today's blog topic... The TV and what to do with the … [Read more...]
