Summer Decor Trends Twitter Party

I can not be more happy that Spring is here and Summer is fastly approaching.  As the seasons change, so is my decor.  It's time to ditch the heavy wools and tweeds, and move towards lighter-weight cottons and linens. As I'm in the midst of preparing for the warmer months ahead, I was asked to join Heather, of Hometalk, in a Twitter chat about Summer Home Decor Trends.  I am thrilled and excited to be able to share my design thoughts and ideas on what's hot for the coming months. The chat will take place tomorrow night: Thursday, May 2nd from 9-10 PM EST and will include myself, … [Read more...]

Craft Room: Progress of Client Project _ Designed by @Jenna_Burger

This morning, I mentioned that I was headed out early for a site visit to check on the progress of the mega craft room /office space that I've been working on for the last few months.  It's a local project which I shared details about a few weeks ago and the transformation has been amazing. In the last post about this project, the construction hadn't even begun, but since then alot has happened, including: Removal of the popcorn ceiling Removal of old carpet and installation of new hardwood floor (in this room and throughout the entire house) Removal of old window treatments New … [Read more...]

Powder Room Remodel – Phase 1: Removing the Existing Toilet and Pedestal Sink

April 29, 2013

powder room remodel

My feet are sore and my fingers have a few blisters, but it's well worth the pain for how much work around the house was accomplished this past weekend.  It was the first days of really nice weather and aside from a baseball game and a birthday celebration, much of the weekend was spent cleaning out the garage, sprucing up the exterior, and starting the powder room remodel. I shared details of my plans for the powder room a few weeks ago and was thrilled to finally get started. To begin the process the old had to come out before the new goes in, so the Mister and I got our tools out and … [Read more...]

17 Stunning DIY Fixtures_hometalk_1

Lighting fixtures are one of my favorite ways to personalize and change the look of a room. A dynamic and unique hanging pendant, wall sconce, or lamp can give the awe-factor to any space. Throw in some DIY goodness and a fun focal point can be admired and enjoyed everytime you walk in a space. I was thrilled when Miriam of Hometalk reached out to me to curate a collection of DIY lighting fixtures.  I hurriedly scoured the site for some cool creations and was amazed by what I saw.  Don't know Hometalk?  You're missing out. It's a neat and creative social media site where homeowners, … [Read more...]

DIY: Vertical Pallet Garden

DIY: Vertical Pallet Garden by @Jenna_Burger, SASinteriors.net

The warmer weather has got me movin' and groovin' outdoors.  This past weekend I got my DIY mojo on for this months Lowe's challenge and created (what I think) is something pretty cool.  Check out my newly created Vertical Pallet Garden using colorful pots... Though the flowers are finally starting to peak through around the yard, I was in need of color NOW to start decorating my front porch for Spring.  I, of course, hit up my local Lowe's garden center to get my color fix.  It's still the early days of Spring, so the selection (at my local Lowe's in NY) was limited, but I was able … [Read more...]

Striking Spring Porches, Doors, and Entryways

Major Spring Inspiration: Striking Spring Doors, Porches, and Entryways. Roundup by @Jenna_Burger, SASinteriors.net

Spring is finally peaking through. It's the perfect time of year to open up the windows, let the fresh air in, and rid the winter decor for some fresh, new, colorful accents. We can finally come out of hibernation, step outside the front door, and actually spend time looking at our homes instead of darting directly from the indoors to the car in 2.8 seconds to avoid the frigid cold (well maybe that's just me - hehe). The entry to a home sets the tone for what's to come indoors. What's created and displayed on the front door, porch, and entryway make the first impression not only for … [Read more...]

DIY: Stenciled Shower Curtain Using Drop Cloth Material - super simple & inexpensive to create! @Jenna_Burger, SASinteriors.net

I hope you're having a wonderful week so far.  Now that I'm coming off my amazing moment high and getting back into my DIY groove, I'm excited to show you the new stenciled shower curtain panel that I recently made for the kids bathroom. You may have seen a sneak peak of the shower curtain a few weeks ago when I shared some Spring updates.  A few of you even commented saying you loved the color choice (I do too). It's bright. It's bold. It's an eye-catcher... ...And I made it myself.  It was super easy, inexpensive, and something you can absolutely do too! The … [Read more...]

Amazing Moments

BHG Photoshoot Sneak Peak

Moments happen every day.  Many are great, but when an amazing moment occurs, you have to just sit back and reflect (at least for a moment). The past few weeks have been a whirlwind.  I've felt every emotion possible - excitement, happiness, nervousness... all wrapped into one. I'm still pinching myself at the thought that my home, my work, will be in a magazine (actually 4 magazines).  It feels amazing that my time and creativity have been recognized by others.  It's a validating feeling like, "I did it"!  Simply put, the entire week was just surreal.   So here is the … [Read more...]

Organization is the bane of my existence. I love order. I love neatness. But often behind-the-scenes (a.k.a. inside the closets), order & neatness are not typical. Somehow with 2 kids, a busy husband, a cat, and an active work schedule, things pile up and all of a sudden before I know it, I'm overwhelmed with stuff.  I try to be conscious of only keeping what's essential, but it's often easier said than done. In the midst of my Spring cleaning frenzy - out with the old, ClosetMaid reached out to me with an exciting new product coming out called Closet Solutions which hit … [Read more...]
