This is a sponsored post, I am a Kmart Layaway blogger, though all opinions are my own. Thinking back on my childhood years, the only store that I ever remember having a layaway program, where you could put items on hold and then pay a little each week, was Kmart.  Most likely with the growing popularity of credit cards, the concept went away, but Kmart has brought their famed layaway program back! Kmart is busy prepping for the Holiday season of giving and to coincide with this time they are launching the Kmart's Big Layaway Giveaway - how cool!  From now till 11/17, Kmart will have one … [Read more...]

Ombre Halloween Pillow with RIT Dye

Ombre Halloween Pillow Using RIT Liquid Dye, via

Halloween is just a few short weeks away and even though I've already decorated for Fall, I wanted to spice it up with some Halloween accents.  My favorite, inexpensive way to do that is with pillows. I recently was lucky enough to get my hands on RIT Dye and thought an ombre design with a few spooky elements would fit the bill just perfectly. Let me start by saying I have NEVER used liquid dye before and was a little apprehensive, but honestly it was really easy and fun to add a bit of color to a plain ole' piece of fabric. Here are all the colors I received for the project and … [Read more...]

It’s All About the Bed

Creative Vision Board - Modern Elegance

This post brought to you by Leggett & Platt. All opinions are 100% mine. In most rooms of the home, the featured piece of furniture can vary, but in the bedroom the most important element is the bed! If you spend (on average) 6-8 hours of your 24 day sleeping, that's 50 hours a week, 2600 hours a year, and 180000 hours in a lifetime. OK OK, who cares about the math, but all-in-all, we spend ALOT OF TIME SLEEPING, and that equals the need for a comfortable bed, right?! I recently learned about Leggett & Platt who creates beds that truly transform your bedroom space into an … [Read more...]

Inspire Quote

Not even realizing it, the two year anniversary of my business and blog already past. How crazy is it that this happened and I totally forgot?  I knew the 2 year mark was approaching but when I looked at the actual date on the calendar (yesterday), it suddenly dawned on me that I started this amazing adventure of DIYing and decorating on September 18, 2010. Well in the big spectrum of life, who really cares about that specific date.  More importantly, I want to thank you all for following along on this completely unforeseen journey.  To all the newbies, as well as my longtime followers that … [Read more...]

I've gotta give credit for the technique on how to create this Subway Art to Cheri of I Am Momma - Hear … [Read more...]

It's been a while since the last happenings on the homestead, and even though I share alot of personal DIY projects from around my home, I don't often share with you what's happening and what's ahead.  So let's recap a bit... Fall Mantel by @Jenna_Burger

I've been loving the cool temps over the past few days, have you?  For me, there's no transition time once September hits.  A switch goes off in my head that says "Fall, Fall, Fall".  Thankfully I haven't dug out the sweaters yet, BUT I did gather some decor for my newest mantel for the coming season. Autumn is almost here and after sharing a fun roundup of Fall Fireplace Mantels earlier this week, I'm ready to reveal mine.  But before we begin, I have a confession to make... I never showed you my summer mantel.  I had great intentions to, but it never happened.  No worries, because for … [Read more...]

14 Festive Fireplace Mantels for Fall

Fall is a favorite time of year for me. Even though it's not technically a new year, with the kids returning to school, it feels like a new beginning. I treasure the breezy days of late September when we get to pack away the sandals and replace them with riding boots and polar fleeces. I enjoy apple picking and pumpkin carving with the kids while being mesmerized by the Fall foilage. But most of all, I love organizing and decorating for the new season.  Pumpkins, ghords, warm colors, blankets...  Autumn brings such cozy thoughts.  As I'm starting to think about and get in the mood for … [Read more...]
