The Crazy Painting Lady

Painting Chair

Yes, that's me -The Crazy Painting Lady, or maybe I should say, the painting lady that's crazy!  Either way, I've been quite nutty lately while I've been busy working hard and tackling lots of painting projects... From rooms to doors, from furniture to moulding, I have been non-stop painting for over a month.  With the Summer in full swing, I was able to lessen my work load (slightly) and focus on spending time with my kids while off of school and some new DIY projects. Most aren't done, but come take a look anyway... After the staircase project, I dove right into painting the … [Read more...]

DIY Project Gallery - SAS Interiors

Let's start with... Changes. You may have noticed a few changes around here over the past few weeks. For one, the header got some updating (thanks to my awesome web & graphic designer, Ashley at Dreamup Studios). I'm always up for alittle updating and since it's been over a year, I thought some things needed tweaking. What do you think? Have you noticed the changes? If not, here's what's new... Can't see that closely?  No problem. You can visit the actual links above.  But basically the header area got "tightened up", meaning the logo shrunk down a teeny bit to make way for … [Read more...]

The Art of Hanging Art: Tips for Hanging Art and Pictures

July 24, 2012

Art

I've written quite a few posts about hanging art, but when a friend recently moved into a new house and asked me what is appropriate to go where... I decided to revisit the 'must-know' tips to hanging art! Hanging pictures and artwork can be tricky and intimidating, and often result in bare walls, so don't let that happen to you! Here are a few helpful and foolproof tips for having beautifully designed walls! 1. Hanging Pictures at the Right Height Never have a tall (or short) person hang photos, as it'll result in pictures being hung too high (or too low). The center of a larger photo … [Read more...]

Glass Bottle Turned Candle

I've been working on so many big projects lately (like the stairs, painting, and this chair) that I wanted to take a quick break and create something super quick and easy to share with you. One of my favorite drinks, especially in the summer, is Saratoga Sparkling Water. Since I live in the town where this water is manufactured, it's available most everywhere and everytime I see the gorgeous cobalt blue bottle, I just stare at it's beauty. I never get the nerve to throw the bottles away and have been stockpiling them in my garage waiting for a DIY project to pop into my head. And finally, … [Read more...]

PicMonkey Collage

I'm finishing up a kitchen renovation for a local client (which looks amazing and I can't wait to share pictures) and we're at the point of choosing light fixtures.  Most have already been selected and some already installed, but we wanted to find something extra special for the foyer light as you enter into the home. The tricky part of the equation? The Ceiling Height!  An average home usually has an 8'-0" ceiling height, but some have cathedral ceilings in the foyer so a grand and beautiful chandelier can be admired.  Not this house.  But that's okay because with a little hunting I was … [Read more...]

Picture Hanging Made Easy

Yesterday I shared my newly updated two toned mirror with silver leaf detail and today I'm sharing the 411 on how I hung it on the wall.  I've been using this tip for years (well maybe not that long, but it's been a while), yet never shared it - forgive me please.  This easy-peasy -picture-hanging-tip will knock your socks off make your life so much easier, plus you'll get to ditch the typical results (and headaches) of having too many holes in the wall. Are you ready?? Let's break it down... 1. Lay the picture / mirror face down on it's front. Using painters tape (it's better than … [Read more...]

Two Toned Mirror with Faux Silver Leaf Detail

Two Toned Mirror by @Jenna_Burger

Another summer week is underway.  I can't believe how fast it's flying by, but I'm excited to be sharing a new DIY project with you - let's get started... Sometimes a small added detail truly makes a piece look completely new again.  While updating the buffet in my dining room with the new lamps and sunburst mirror, I moved the dark wood mirror that was once over the mantel to this revamped area.  I've had the mirror for about 9 years and it was beautiful, but I felt like it needed a little pick-me-up and decided adding a little something around the inner rim would be the perfect … [Read more...]

It’s Summer, Get Organized Now and Have More Fun Later!

July 6, 2012

With the arrival of Summer comes a plethora of swim gear, sandals, and beach bags.  It's the time of year when the kids are out of school and us moms are on the go 24-7.  There's no time to stay organized with the pitter-patter of kids running through the house, so instead of straightening "the stuff" every evening, do it once and be done. The most important part of the home that's a-must to stay organized is the entry / mudroom.  No matter the size, using a few smart organizing solutions will create for a pleasant "hub" of the home to enter and exit. 1. Out with the Old My motto is if … [Read more...]
