Operation Christmas Cleanup and Reorganization

December 30, 2011

Christmas hasn't been over for half a second and what am I doing?  Taking everything down, putting all the decorations away, and organizing.  I think this is the earliest I've ever put away the seasonal decor, but as soon as the clock struck midnight on the eve of the 26th, my mind was in reorganization mode.  How bad am I?? I wasn't going to dare mention or speak a word of putting away the Christmas decor till after the New Year because my hub would have a cow, but I quickly asked him on Wednesday night and he said, "ya sure".  I think I caught him at the right moment while watching some … [Read more...]

Month to Month Blog Review of 2011

December 28, 2011

After putting together the post on Your Favorites of 2011, I thought it would be fun to create a month-to-month review of my posts from the entire year.  I often think, I need to do so much more, but in reality, I have done ALOT. O, and before we begin,  I decided to have a Facebook Link Party featuring other " Best of 2011" posts.  If you haven't shared your post yet, click {here}   Let's take a look back on the past year...   January After the Christmas decor was packed away and the house was back to normal in early January, the first project of the year was to embellish the … [Read more...]

Your Favorite Top Posts of 2011

December 26, 2011

I hope you had a wonderful Holiday filled with many blessings.  I had a beautiful Christmas and was so thankful to spend it with family!  With the weeks of anticipation leading up to the big day, it's kind of sad to see it end.  At the same time though, it is exciting to think about what the year ahead has to offer. I can not believe 2011 is just about over.  Can you?  I’m always asking myself, where has the year gone!  It seems like it was January, just two days ago.  Do you feel that way?  As a wrap up of 2011, I decided to walk down memory lane to see what posts were favorites of my SAS … [Read more...]

Finally Some Relaxation…

December 23, 2011

... I hope! Boy, it's been a crazy week.  Not only has it been nutty with last minute shopping, wrapping, and preparing for Christmas Eve, Christmas, and the day after, I have been busy with a new client.  She contacted me about 2 weeks ago and it ended up being that she lives locally, so we met for the first time this past Monday.  After a week filled with lots of decisions, all the furniture is ordered and on it's way.  {WOW}  Once it arrives in the new year, we will be on our way to pulling it all together and adding the finishing personal touches - can't wait.  This wam-bam design is … [Read more...]

20 Colorful Holiday Table Settings

December 21, 2011

With Christmas just days away, I am sure your tree is filled with ornaments, the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, and your children are bouncing off the walls with the anticipation of Santa on his way.  In the meantime, you are trying to finish up each person on your shopping list, wrap all the presents, and prepare for Christmas dinner.  So the last thought you've probably given to this fast-approaching Holiday is how you are going to decorate your festive table.  Am I right?  Or maybe you have thought about it and simply need some last bit of inspiration. Well I have compiled … [Read more...]

Pantone Color of 2012: Tangerine Tango

December 19, 2011

Whether it be fashion, interiors, print, or web, if you're a follower of the design world, you know that every December the new Pantone Color for the next year is announced.  And as it is every year, the "IT color to come" was just announced and the "viviacious, enticing hue" for 2012 is PANTONE® 17-1463 Tangerine Tango.  Not a complete surprise, this bold and bright color has been a favorite of the design industry for many years.  Similarly to last year's Honeysuckle hue, Tangerine Tango is striking, daring, and vibrant. The 2011 color of the year, PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle, encouraged … [Read more...]

4 Upcycling Ideas for the Home

December 14, 2011

I'm taking a little break today from Holiday posts and instead sharing a guest post with you from Jeremy of Easy Appliance Parts.  He has some great insight and ideas to share on upcycling typical items around the house.   How you design the interior of your home is a major factor in making your home more attractive and peaceful. One method to add to your design plan is upcycling. Instead of going to a furniture or home decor store, you can repurpose everyday items for interior design. Upcycling is not only a cool way to spruce up your interior, it creates a real design statement. … [Read more...]

Happenings on the Homestead

December 13, 2011

Alot has been happening, and with the Holidays quickly approaching, projects that I had anticipated to have complete already, have been put to the side.  Ahem...my master bedroom makeover.  Were you wondering if I had finished it???  NOPE - not yet!  Instead I've been focused other things... A project for a friend... Spending time with family... Tiling a floor (for my parents)... Decorating for Christmas... So, little time has been left for my bedroom makeover.  After the window treatments went up  and a few accessories were added, little has happened.  But I am happy to say that I've … [Read more...]

Inspirational Christmas Interiors

December 12, 2011

I realized that lately I've been sharing alot of my own DIY creations (which I hope you've been enjoying) and less inspirational interior spaces by others.  With the internet, magazines, and books, I'm never at a loss for finding spaces that WOW me (and I hope you as well). With the Holidays approaching, the typical everyday decor is replaced with seasonal favorites, and once again my jaw has dropped at some of the interior rooms that fellow designers have created.  Let's take a look at some of my favorite spaces decorated for the Christmas. Where do I begin?  This interior fully … [Read more...]

DIY: Holiday Photo Cards

December 8, 2011

It's that time of year when the post office is at it's peak with the hustle and bustle of people sending out packages and waiting on line for stamps to mail their Holiday cards.  I usually design my cards in early November and mail them out right after Thanksgiving (this year though, I was a little late). Because I have young kids and we have family near and far that we don't often get to see throughout the year, I like to design and send a photocard, but they can often be expensive.   In being somewhat of a frugal person, I decided to make my own Holiday photocards this year (and honestly, … [Read more...]
