Don't you think you could use a room divider or screen in your home to break up a large room into smaller spaces?  What a great idea! This white open bookcase divides one large space into two separate functions~ living and dining...Your books become ART...what a fab look!  This is actually a great idea for a DIY Saturday project....get your tools … [Read more...]

June 7, 2011

Chicago Interiors_4

(photos from my recent trip) Fresh back from my trip to Chicago, I was truly inspired by the cities Public Art Program.  It's adaptation to add abstract Art and cultural elements throughout the city started in the late 70s with a law passed that a percentage of building costs be put towards purchasing public works of art (a.k.a.  ~ outdoor sculptures and outdoor elements) and displaying them throughout the city.  From this initiative, many Chicagoans have taken this artistic approach and have adapted it into their own interior decor. To sum it up, my take on Chicago style is contemporary … [Read more...]

Chicago Trip

As this post is going live, I am on a jet plane to The Windy City... Chicago! Yet it won't be windy while we're there ~ today is supposed to be in the high 80s.  HOT - - HOT - - HOT!  This trip is not for work, but instead a long girls weekend with my mom to visit my Aunt who just moved from the burbs to downtown. It was a little difficult to pry myself away from the routine of everyday life  - - work and taking care of my kids - - but I left it all behind (with a lot of planning) to have some me time! Since I have a background and passion for architecture, Chicago is an amazing … [Read more...]
