Valspar FREE Sample & Prepping to Paint Tips

March 21, 2011

Since I’ve been on the subject of paint lately, I couldn’t resist sharing this awesome deal. Valspar has been giving away paint samples since mid January and will continue to, until early May. Get your FREE paint sample today with there 100 days. 1000 chances. Millions of possibilities campaign.  I signed up and received my FREE package last week.

It’s quite easy, and here’s how ~ Click {here}. Starting at 10am (central time) everyday, the first 1000 people can select their color of choice and receive a free sample kit (seen above).  If you miss out, try again tomorrow.

Everything you need is in the box to get started on your painting project! Enclosed is the paint sample you selected, a roller and 2 trays, a chip of the paint sample, color palette that coordinates with your color selection, and a $5 coupon towards your next Valspar purchase. How COOL?!

Tips on  PREPPING to PAINT:

  • Lighting is a big factor when selecting a color.  It may look perfect on your computer screen or while standing in the paint aisle, but it’s a must to see how the paint (chip) looks in the actual space!  Paint can also vary depending on the time of day.
  • Before painting, wipe the walls off with a damp cloth or sponge.  You don’t want any cob webs or grime on your painting surface.
  • Prime your walls first (especially when painting or covering a dark color) ~ it’ll save you time and money!
  • If you’re trying out a few samples on the wall, create a large enough sample area (2’x2′), so you can get a good idea of how it’ll look.
  • When trying out samples, wait a few days to truly give it a thumbs UP or a thumbs DOWN!
  • Use the right tools for the job!  Choose the correct brush(es) or roller(s) for the paint surface.
  • Have patience and devote the time to do a good job…don’t rush!
  • Use painting tape or an edger to conceal the area that should not be painted.

Happy Painting!
