Tutorial: Felt Flowers

January 28, 2011

Yesterday, I shared with you my newly created Valentine Burlap Wreath.  When the burlap was complete, it looked a little bare, so I added some pretty red felt flowers to {dress it up}SuppliesFelt (any color you choose ~ I chose red for Vday)Scissorsglue (I prefer and recommend hot glue because it adheres fast)buttons (optional) And, of course, your crafty little fingers!Let's begin with the petal flower1. Cut out 6 petals that are about 1" wide by 1-1/2" long (follow the shape above). 2. Cut out 6 more petals that are slightly smaller.I created a template on a piece of paper, which I … [Read more...]

Valentine Burlap Wreath

DIY: Valentine burlap wreath with handmade felt flowers by @Jenna_Burger, SASinteriors.net

Even though I said goodbye to the Christmas decor days after the 25th of December, I only took down my Christmas wreath from the front door last week . The wreath didn't scream Christmas, but it was time to say 'See you next year'!  So the entrance to our home was naked.  My bare apple-green colored door just wasn't cutting it till Springtime, so I adorned it with a crafty, handmade Valentine Wreath. Ta-Da...  The new and improved front door, dressed for V-day!  It's beautified with the newly created handmade wreath using burlap and a few pretty flowers! Supplies Wire hanger (from … [Read more...]

New Year, New Home: Beautifying Your Laundry

January 26, 2011

One space in your home that you (most likely) use ALOT is your laundry room {or laundry area or laundry closet or laundry nook}.....you get the picture.  For me, I do TONS of laundry (more than I'd like to admit)   After the kitchen, the laundry room is most likely the second space that you spend the most time ~ especially if you have kids ~ so beautify it...VAMP IT UP!!  In many homes, the laundry room area is small and doesn't allow the proper room to sort, wash, and fold!  The unfinished closet or hidden space in the basement, just isn't cutting it.  … [Read more...]

New Year, New Home: Creating a Comfortable and Efficient Home Office

January 24, 2011

With so many of us working from home, either full-time or part-time, creating a designated space for all of our work related materials is vital for ourselves and our home environment.  A private area to call 'mine' is crucial to provide privacy and efficiency.  Many of us use laptops and wireless connections, so the flexibility of our 'office' can be anywhere throughout the house, but the downside is that our work space often ends up being right smack in the 'heart of the home'. Wherever your 'office' may be, why not make it beautiful? How do you have an office area amidst your living … [Read more...]

Spray Painting in the Snow

January 21, 2011

The last few days have been nothing but snow in the ADKs (short for Adirondacks, just in case you didn't know) and there's no better time of year to be spray painting than when it's snowing and 10 degrees, right?  Not!  Who spray paints in the middle of winter?  ME...I am crazy!  My hands were freezing (and now they're cracked).  My thought: During naptime (of course), I'd go into the garage and transform my newly purchased side chair.  The other day, I picked up two cans of spray paint and I was ready!  WELL...my project didn't quite pan out as I … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Mantel Decor

January 20, 2011

Valenine-Mantel

This week has been very busy and I took on WAY too many projects!  One positive result = I have LOTS to share with you.  My main focus was to decorate for Valentine's (didn't I just un-decorate from Christmas??).  To be honest, I'm really not into Valentine's Day (doesn't everyone say that) and I don't usually change my decor for this somewhat minor holiday, but I had fun styling my home with a few homemade crafty creations! Earlier this week, I posted pics of some Valentine's ideas from other talented bloggers and I gave you a preview of the pillows (and now the mantel) that I pulled … [Read more...]
